About

Writing is thinking
made visible

I've spent the past fifteen years exploring stories—in newsrooms, in fiction, in the quiet hours before dawn when the words finally come. My work has appeared in The New Yorker, The Atlantic, Harper's, and numerous anthologies.

When I'm not writing, I teach creative writing at Columbia University and host a podcast about the craft of storytelling. I believe every person has a story worth telling, and every story deserves to be told well.
